What You Should Know Before Choosing A Printer

  • What's the different printing principles?

As I have mentioned in my article before, laser printers mostly print documents in general. Consumables are relatively cheap and fast, and the quality of photo printings is not good.

Home use sublimation printer can refer to Pocket Photo of LG and Selphy of Canon, can only print small photos up to 6 inches. The printing quality can only be average, but it can meet most users' demand.

Inkjet printers can apply more photos and the quality depends on the price of the printer. The printing size varies from 6 inches to A3+, also the large format printers for design companies and advertising companies.

  • What's the different structure of a multifunction printer and a dedicated photo printer?
Usually multifunction printers are divided into 3in1 printer and 4in1 printer.

The 3in1 printer comes with a scanner so it can print, copy, and scan.

The 4in1 printer has one more fax function, and the photo printer should refer to a single-function printer that prints photos exclusively.

The printer prints this part of the structure is actually the same, just more scanners and fax components.
  • What kind of printers do professional photographers prefer?
Professional photographers prefer printers with good quality.

General professional photographers have certain requirements of photo size, mostly for A3 display works. So if you choose a printer, you will use an A3+ format desktop printer or a larger large format printer. Photographers generally want to restore the colors of their works in a true and accurate manner, so they prefer printers with good color reproduction.

  • What parameters do I need to care about?
First of all, we must determine the format. For home use, it is generally two sizes, A4 and A3+. (Someone may not understand the size A3+, in fact it is larger than the A3 format, specifically 329mm x 483mm).

Photo quality according to the printer parameters, the judgment sequence should be:

First, the number of ink cartridges (this is the most decisive factor, the more the color number of the printer is, the more accurate color reproduction,  which can perform a wider color gamut. Naturally the price is higher).

Second, look at the print resolution. It may also be necessary to consider the type of print paper that is supported. Glossy paper is supported for all printers. Art paper depends on the different models of printers.

Third, some other considerations such as whether or not copy scans are required, whether wifi printing is required, and so on.
